March 2nd, 2020, seems like a century ago.
In the United States, businesses were at their typical pace. Public gatherings for sports, conferences, events, concerts, restaurants, bars, libraries, malls were in full operation. Grocery stores weren’t our epicenter of human horticulture.
We didn’t question giving a hug to a friend, visiting our elderly family members or shaking the hand of a stranger.
My health care community colleagues were gearing up for HIMSS, technologists and entrepreneurs were set for SXSW. The threat of a global pandemic did not feel real yet.
March 2nd, 2020 was the launch of ConsenSys Health, a spin-off of the blockchain venture production studio ConsenSys, to create a platform for health care and life science organizations and public entities to utilize information together in a privacy-preserving way.
SXSW and HIMSS were the platforms that were going to officially announce the company’s strategy and vision for 2020. To focus on mitigating the rising costs of research and administration, improving access to care, and using automated agreements to lower overall spend for healthcare.
Since March 9th, ConsenSys Health has had to pivot straight into COVID-19 response.
ConsenSys Health has been connecting with first-responders, national oversight committees, federal entities, technologists, consortias, providers, payers and people going through this tragedy to see how our expertise in using emerging technology can help to mitigate this infectious disease that has put us all to a pause.
I am proud of this pivot and proud to be a part of this team. As Director of Platform Integration & Technical Partnerships, I will have the ability to help bring together the right non-technical and technical groups to utilize data as a collective unit, without compromising their business structure.
Our team is full of selfless people who have turned everything around over the past month. The investment groups backing the company have accepted the move to change, the leadership team is shifting the overall strategy in a short time-frame and the broader is helping anyone they can with our unique skillsets.
We LIVE to help health care and life science professionals understand how distributed technology can create value from the inefficiencies of our current system. With highly researched, technically accredited and world renowned standards experts we can build these information avenues not just for the short-term, but so that we may not have to live through these systematic mistakes in the future.
What our team creates won’t solve the crisis. It will lessen the suffering. None of this happens unless we all have the proper people, systems, incentives and structures in place to make our health care industry more interoperable than it has ever been before.
I look forward to working with all of you in this process to fight against COVID-19, industry problems and much more with ConsenSys Health.
